Collections Law was originally developed and published online by the Collections Council of Australia Ltd as Exposure Draft 0.1. The Powerhouse Museum acknowledges the assistance provided by the Collections Council of Australia Ltd, an organisation that was supported from 2004 to 2010 by the Cultural Ministers Council, an intergovernmental forum for ministers responsible for culture and the arts in Australia and New Zealand.
